Bryan Cranston has said he would like to play the late Marvel legend Stan Lee in a biopic about the comicbook writer.
Lee, who created many of the fantastic Marvel characters we know and love today including Spider-Man, Iron Man and the X-Men, passed away on Monday (November 12) at the age of 95.
Without him we wouldn’t have The Avengers, The Defenders, Blade and a seemingly never ending list of other heroes.
Ever since a fan-made poster for a Stan Lee biopic starring Breaking Bad‘s very own Bryan Cranston went viral two years ago, fans have been calling for this film to happen.
Noticing the resemblance between the actor and Lee, a fan photoshopped a poster for Cranston’s 2016 movie The Infiltrator adding ‘Bryan Cranston is Stan Lee’, the tagline ‘the best way to rule the universe is to create it’ and a release date of ‘April 2017’.
My favourite part is the reflection of Iron Man’s helmet and Captain America’s shield in Cranston’s glasses.
The earliest version of the poster we could find online was created by the Tumblr page Entertain Me Weakly:
Although right now this biopic isn’t happening in an interview with UNILAD Cranston said it would certainly be a role he’d be interested in playing.
Also paying tribute to Lee, Cranston said:
Yeah he was, I hate to say genius, but he was the man who had tremendous insight into how to humanise superheroes, how to make them relatable and by giving them flaws, relatable human flaws, that made them accessible to audiences.
And so he really had a natural sense of communication and an honest authentic way of writing that material that really drew the audience in in order to really invest in those characters.
Sure, I would be interested in looking into that if someone has an idea of how to develop a tribute movie to the amazing Mr Lee.
Someone please make this happen!
This will certainly please the many, many fans who have been calling for a Stan Lee biopic starring Cranston in the lead role to happen.
Manuel Ramirez on Twitter loved the idea writing:
A Stan Lee movie will be made that’s a fact, Bryan Cranston would be the perfect fit… that’s also a fact.

Another user was keen to see Cranston appear in a film about Lee tweeting:
I can really see Bryan Cranston being cast as the lead in a movie or documentary to honour Stan Lee.

Cranston will next be seen starring in the upcoming remake of the hit 2011 French film The Intouchables, this time called The Upside.
You can watch a trailer for the movie here:
Inspired by a true story, Cranston plays a wealthy quadriplegic who strikes up an unlikely friendship with a man hired to help him who has a criminal record (Kevin Hart).
Directed by Neil Burger (Limitless and The Illusionist), the uplifting comedy drama will certainly warm hearts when it’s released next year.
The Upside will be released in US and UK cinemas January 11, 2019.
