The accused broke into a Melbourne Sexyland store, wearing a stocking over his head, armed with bolt cutters and a fire hydrant to steal Dorothy, a lifelike sex doll.

Said to be ‘the perfect companion for lonely nights’, Dorothy retails at $4500.

They are now searching for any clue to the case, after the crime was committed just after 6am on Sunday.

CCTV captured the man arriving at the Sexyland store, in the suburb of Moorabbin, outside Melbourne, in the early hours, pulling up in a white Ford Transit van.

They think he used bolt cutters to get through the fence and the fire hydrant to break into the shop where he chose Dorothy from about 12 take-home life-sized titanium alloy dolls, the Herald Sun reports.

Sexyland describes the doll as ‘developed from superior materials for soft, ultra-realistic feeling skin’. It says Dorothy’s skeleton also allows her to stand on her own, and is dubbed ‘the perfect companion for lonely nights’.

Dorothy is similar in stature to the bespoke dolls produced by companies such as Real Doll.

Speaking to UNILAD, adult entertainer and sex expert, Harriet Sugarcookie explained in a recent survey she discovered two per cent of men had tried using a sex doll.

With the perpetual advancements of sex robotics and lifelike human sex toys, Harriet believes many are interested in ways to artificially simulate sex.

Some more than others, apparently, who are willing to turn to crime.
