For many people getting engaged is a big deal. Of course you’ll want to share the news with their friends and family.
24-year-old Shanelle Phipps from Chicago, Illinois, was so excited to get engaged she took things to a whole new level when it came to making the announcement.
Shanelle decided to have some fun with those who have her on Snapchat showing off her sparkling engagement ring in any way she could.
Here she is opening a door with the focus of course being on the ring:
Making an adjustment to her sandal:
Tucking into some birthday cake:
And finally sorting out some irritating bogies:
Speaking exclusively to UNILAD, Shanelle explained she ‘uploaded the photos as a joke because [she] so wanted to show off the ring in a funny way’.
And she succeeded because those who follow her on Snapchat were left laughing as well as congratulating Shanelle on her engagement.
But as Shanelle admits, she also wanted to show everyone how she was bursting with happiness following the engagement.
She added:
We have been together for six, going on seven, years. I met him in 2009 at a gas station and he tried to get my number there, and I blew him off. Two years later he inboxed me on Facebook, we talked everyday and became inseparable.
It was my birthday, June 29, when he proposed. He had bought me a cake. I began to lick the frosting from the lid of the box to taste it and I seen something shiny and I looked down like ‘OMG, OMG, OMG’.
I was so happy I put the ring on myself, I don’t even remember him saying ‘will you marry me’ I was just that happy.
My fiancé didn’t get a chance to say anything, I need to ask him if he was proposing haha, that’s how fast it went.
I’m sure he would have told you by now Shanelle if he hadn’t planned on proposing!
When Shanelle’s 29-year-old brother Pierre saw her Snapchats, he decided to share them with the world screen-shotting them and posting the pictures on Twitter.
They went viral receiving over 21,000 likes at time of writing (July 19).
It was at this point Pierre decided he had to tell Shanelle she was a viral sensation:
My little sister is my princess. We are super close and she is one of my best friends!
When I saw the photos she posted on Snapchat I laughed. She’s such a goofy person! I couldn’t stop laughing.
I shared them and they got liked over 20,000 times. I called her and said ‘OMG you’re viral’. I was scared lol! So many people knew my sister’s hand and she wasn’t aware of it!
Thankfully Shanelle, who is also expecting with her fiancé, didn’t mind and found most of the replies to the tweet quite funny.
She told UNILAD she particularly loved being called a ‘mood’.
Congratulations!
