As I’m sure most of you will know, the dating app Tinder is a real mixed bag. Sometimes you get a future husband/wife, other times, you get a body builder who adds you to a group chat with 16 other girls and asks you to audition to be his summer romance.
For 17-year-old Claire Boylan, from New Jersey, US, and 15 other girls, it was unfortunately the latter.
He didn’t just add them to a group chat, he proceeded to write an essay about the romance his summer was lacking, and his expectations of the women.
Check out the message below:
Speaking to UNILAD, Claire explained how she ended up in the bizarre group chat:
I made a Tinder [profile] just to see what would happen and we matched. Right away he messaged saying ‘what’s your number? no time’, which was kind of weird but I was like whatever, so I gave it to him.
Then about 10 minutes later I get that text [group message] and I was honestly just shocked.
I thought he was trying to make us audition for The Bachelor or something – it was so funny.
The guy’s message read:
This is [anonymous dater] reaching out to you with an offer that can’t be passed up, but expires soon.
I am looking for a nice girl to romance for the rest of summer.
This Saturday night I’m inviting you all to Applebees where I’ll be seated at a table for two between the hours of 8pm and 11pm.
What I’ll expect from you is a hand-written letter explaining why you think you’re the lady for me.
In exchange for these hand-written letters, the guy said he would provide them with a ‘refreshing glass of water’, with ice…what a treat.
All of the girls in the group chat started roasting the guy, sending loads of messages pointing out the stupidity of his idea before they finally removed him from his own group chat and continued the conversation without him.
Claire explained what happened after his removal:
After a little bit he sent another angry text because we removed him from the group chat – which was even more funny – so we kept sending him gifs saying things such as ‘girl, bye’, until we removed him from that one again.
We also decided to look up his Instagram account because he left his username at the bottom of the texts. He had around 40,000 followers and was a body builder. He was actually posting the texts on his Instagram story thinking he was smooth and that it would work.
We were all really shocked by the messages at first because it was just so crazy he could even say something like that, but it became a joke and it was definitely the highlight of my week.
Claire said she was glad she made a Tinder profile just for this experience alone.
She continued telling UNILAD about how the guy ‘got so upset, he deleted his account’:
At first I thought it had to be a joke. Yet the fact he was posting it on Instagram, got so upset about us coming at him for it, and the fact he deleted his whole account, kind of made me think it was real!
Somehow, he got back into the group chat (probably because he made it) and removed all of us and no one has started up a new one yet.
I have all their numbers and Instagram accounts so we could always just make another group chat, no one has yet though.
At the end of his message, the guy said he would make a decision within 72 hours. Luckily for the girls, they made the decision for him!
