Here’s What Really Goes Into KFC’s Gravy

When you order your KFC and get asked what side you want, unless you’re a tasteless maverick, you will choose the rich flavour explosion that is KFC gravy.

If done right, it acts like a thick winter coat worn by each of your chips, promising to warm your soul and indulge your taste buds.

Well, a video was made to denounce the edible elixir, claiming that chicken up to five days old was used to make the gravy, and for a second I questioned what I had been dipping my chips in.

Watch this for yourself…

We did some research, and spoke to an experienced, gravy loving, former KFC worker who told us there are in fact two different ways they make gravy.

The KFC worker said:

There are two types of gravy.
One of them is just powder and water, mixed together with love and banged into the microwave for 12 minutes.
And the ‘good gravy’ is a different powder and water with a thing they called crackling, it was basically the bits of chicken that gets filtered through the oil after a cook.

If there wasn’t any crackling left, then the gravy makers would just use the gravy powder and water.

Another KFC employee told us that the crackling would last in the fridge for up to five days when it was kept to make gravy.

We were told that ‘everything was above board in terms of cleanliness and adhering to due dates etc’.

It sounds like crackling is the secret to finger lickin’ good gravy.
