A teenager was left astounded when her mum text her to say she thought she was in a bar with Ed Sheeran.
Gianna Roddy, a student from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, received a text from her mum last Tuesday (April 17) saying she was ‘pretty sure’ Ed was sat in the same bar as her.
The 17-year-old said she thought her mum might be serious at first, and then a photo arrived.
Gianna told UNILAD:
The photo was taken at a place called The Union Tap.
At first, I thought she was serious until she sent the picture and I realised someone was just messing with her.
Gianna’s mum had her photo taken with the man, who does actually quite closely resemble Ed, and sent it to her daughter to see for herself.
Replying, Gianna wrote:
I don’t think that’s Ed Sheeran.
To which her mum replied: ‘I’m almost positive it’s him, he’s from England.’
Gianna told UNILAD:
My mom continued to tell me how he even had a British accent and pretty much everyone at the bar thought it was him.
After her mum sent the photo over, Gianna quickly replied to say she didn’t think it was the Shape Of You singer.
She wrote:
Did you ask if it was him? Mom, I don’t think that’s Ed Sheeran [laughing emoji]. Ask him to sing.
Gianna’s mum came back and said:
Yes and he didn’t deny it. Find out if he’s in Philly.
Realising it wasn’t Ed, Gianna sent her mum a couple of photos of the actual Ed Sheeran and told her: ‘Mom, I think that man is just messing with you.’
Gianna told UNILAD:
I sent it to all of my friends who thought it was hilarious and insisted that I post it on Twitter which I did.
People kept either laughing because they thought it was so funny my mom actually thought it was him or asking me if it really was him because they couldn’t tell.
You can kind of see the resemblance though! I’d have to check twice.
One of Ed’s entourage is also making waves on social media, in case you’ve not checked it, Security Kev is great.
Kevin Myers – aka Security Kev – is absolutely brilliant on Instagram, which he’s only had since April 7, and has already amassed some 291,000 followers.
Posting photos taken by the paps and embellishing them with hilarious captions such as #I’mTheDaddy, and #AlwaysWatching, he gives an insight into life behind the star, who he refers to as ‘bae’.
He’ll no doubt be guarding Ed as he ventures into the world of film.
The Castle on the Hill singer is reportedly in talks to take a leading role in a huge Hollywood hit, written by Richard Curtis, the man who brought us Love Actually, Four Weddings and a Funeral and Notting Hill.
The film is about The Beatles, pride of the United Kingdom’s musical history. Looking forward to it.
