Today I received an email which has thoroughly messed with my head, and made me question everything I thought I knew.
I never considered myself a member of the technosexual community – that’s people who are attracted to robots to you and me – but this video of an android is so lifelike I was actually attracted to her before realising she was in fact bionic.
And no, this video is not from a sci-fi flick, and it has racked up millions of views on social media.

People have been proclaiming their love for the robot, and I for one can attest to feeling the confusing desire for a metal embrace.
All jokes aside, this is a pretty spectacular feat of engineering designed for the Tokyo Game Show.
The humanoid robot is officially called the AP700 – but I like to call her Annie, short for Android.
This robot, and a few others, are stood at the booth of Detroit: Become Human, a new PS4 game developed by the team well known for their iconic games Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls.
In the short video, you can see the android – who I’m still not convinced isn’t human – smile and wave in such a lifelike manner people are refusing to accept it’s a robot at all.
The plot for the upcoming game revolves around android Kara, who escapes the factory in which she was made.
The game isn’t set for release until 2018 so we have a while to wait, but if their previous games are anything to go by, it’s going to be an emotional roller coaster.
It’s also completely genius marketing to go that extra mile with the ‘androids’, and it gives a great flavour of what the game is about.
Annie, call me.
