A grandad has become a viral sensation after he gave his granddaughter a list of hilarious rules wannabe boyfriends must follow.
Many people have parents who keep an eye on those their children date, and for 21-year-old Amie McHugh from Airdrie in Lanarkshire, Scotland, it is her grandad who is protective.
Amie took to Twitter on Saturday (February 16) to share a list of tongue-in-cheek rules her grandad sent her for potential love interests.
Grandad William sent Amie the list on WhatsApp, in all capitals, of course.
The rules were both funny and cute:
Rule 1: He must be RC [Roman Catholic].
Rule 2: He must be Celtic supporter.
Rule 3: He must be working.
Rule 4: I must like him.
Rule 5: He must like me.
It continued:
Rule 6: He must be financially well off.
Rule 7: He must never look at another girl while in this relationship.
Rule 8: He must be very kind.
Rule 9: He must have a car.
Rule 10: Whenever in my company he must offer to pay bill.
Ok, that’s it so far, ok.
Unsurprisingly the tweet went viral, receiving over 6,000 likes at time of writing (February 20).
As William hints though, there may be more rules to come, so you can maybe expect additions to the list soon.
People took to the replies section to show grandad William some love.

Speaking to UNILAD, Amie said she wasn’t particularly surprised when she received the list as her grandad regularly sends her ‘daft messages’.
She added this isn’t the first time one of his messages has gone viral:
I just laughed as he always sends me daft messages on WhatsApp so it wasn’t a shock when I seen it. Me and him are really close, we always have been.
I just thought they were funny, I sent them to my pals and family before uploading it to Twitter.
He’s went viral before with other messages. He’s a funny guy!
What makes the list even funnier, is that Amie does have a current boyfriend who doesn’t follow William’s first rule – ‘he must be RC [Roman Catholic]’.
However, Amie reassured UNILAD her grandad does approve of him, meaning William’s fourth rule, ‘I must like him’, is especially true.
She said:
He does thankfully approve. He’s happy, if I’m happy.
