The world’s first ‘non-profit’ dating app for those with HIV has been launched and it could change the dating game for good.
Dating sites and apps saturate the market, promising to hook you up with your perfect other half and determining a type you never knew you had.
Positive Plus One is different though, as it has been developed specifically for people with HIV and the best bit is it’s completely not for profit.
This means any money they make from people signing up and from advertising revenue, will be ploughed back into the company and into charities which they support.
The company’s website reads:
It All Starts With A Date. More than 40 million people around the world share your story.
We simply help you connect
With your help, we can educate, reduce stigma and act as a lifeline for charities and trusts supporting the community.
With millions of people living with the condition worldwide, it’s about time a way for people to meet – and create relationships was developed.
Huge stigmas and prejudices are still attached to those with the condition, so it’s great there’s an open and free way for people to cultivate their private lives, without the fear of being wrongly branded and judged.
This is a great step in the right direction and hopefully other apps and companies will follow suit.
After all, sorry to be cheesy, but in the words of Marvin Gaye, everyone needs love…
