Warning: Contains Spoilers
Don’t say I never do anything for you because I have the perfect Monday treat, and I’m delivering it right to your doorstep.
New, never-before-seen, unedited pictures from the finale of Game of Thrones have been released by HBO and I’m acting as their (un)official delivery person by giving you full access to them.
I know, I know. You can thank me later, I’m just happy I can inject a little bit of joy into your otherwise misery filled Monday. You’re welcome.
The previously unseen pictures document a number of important turning points from season eight episode six, aka the finale, aka The Iron Throne. One of those is the moment Daenerys oversees the Unsullied army after she razed King’s Landing to the ground.
Elsewhere in the episode, one picture shows Brienne of Tarth, played by Gwendoline Christie, paying tribute to her late lover Jaime Lannister as she wrote in The Book of Brothers.
A more light-hearted snap documents the King’s counsel starting their plans for the Seven Kingdoms as they discussed the prices of brothels. Because, y’know, why not?
The pictures also highlight a number of emotional and distressing scenes from the final episode, including one breathtaking scene where Daenerys admires the Throne just moments before her unexpected death.
Another image shows Jon Snow touching Dany’s cheek only moments before betraying her and stabbing her in the chest. He can then be seen holding his dead lover/auntie (awkward) in his arms.
Bosses of the show have also given us insight into what Drogon would have seen as he realised his mum was dead on the ground, with a harrowing shot showing the dragon nuzzling Dany’s body after her death.
The moving scene where Drogon breathes fire all over the Iron Throne, engulfing the chair and melting it, has also been captured in an incredible picture.
The heart-wrenching moment Tyrion discovered his dead brother and sister – Jaime and Cersei – from under the rocks was also documented, emphasising the emotion the character felt at the sight of them.
As Jon was made to leave Westeros and head towards the Wall, his goodbyes to siblings Sansa, Arya, and newly appointed king Bran, were documented in some emotional snaps.
Bran can be seen looking at his older brother in awe, while a tearful Arya (Maisie Williams) embraces Jon as they part ways for what very well might be the final time. Sansa then rested her head on Jon’s shoulder, adding to the devastation felt by fans.
On a more positive note, pictures have also been released of Sansa, played by Sophie Turner, being crowned Queen in the North – complete with silver tiara.
As Sansa sits on her throne, an incredible picture shows the men in the North raising their swords for their new queen.
Ending on a negative (as always), the last of the pictures show Jon returning to the Night’s Watch on horseback after he was sentenced to live the rest of his days there for the murder of the queen.
Jon can be seen looking extremely sad as he leaves Winterfell, the place he grew up with his family, for the last time.
And if you can’t handle the emotion, look away now because the harrowing pictures show the loneliness and isolation felt by the guards who are protecting the realm.
Well, there you have it. A nice little Monday gift from me to you, via HBO.
Maybe I should be the ruler of the Seven (correction, six) Kingdoms?
