This Is England and everything which followed is undoubtedly one of the finest works of art ever to be broadcast on British television.

The film, and the three mini-series’ which followed, had absolutely everything necessary to make a film/TV show a work of inarguable genius.

It never failed in being hilarious, true to life, heart-breaking, gripping, and political, all while chronicling the everyday lives of a handful of close friends in an undisclosed town in the Midlands.

But, as if things could not get any better, this raw work of northern English brilliance may be coming back one last time.

Speaking to The Sun, director Shane Meadows, said:

There is one This Is England left. I’ve got one last idea for This Is England but as a film that can be split as a hybrid.

Because it started in cinemas and ended up on TV, I would love to finish off with one feature-length episode people can watch in the cinema or on TV the same night.

Shane’s quotes were backed up by actor Andrew Ellis, who played Gadget throughout the franchise.

Speaking to UNILAD, Andrew said:

Shane already has a very good idea of where the next series would go, it’s just a matter of whether or not we actually get down to filming it. But from what I’ve heard the story is brilliant.

We’ve all heard the rumours about a new This Is England and after ten years of playing Gadget, I’d absolutely love to play the part again.

Previously, it was thought that This Is England ’90 would have been the final part in the series, but now it seems that the game has changed, and like everybody else with any sense we’re overjoyed merely by the possibility of this incredible saga returning to our screens once again.

This Is England ’90 bagged the Best Mini-Series and Best Supporting Actress for Chanel Cresswell at this year’s BAFTA’s on Sunday.

Please God let this happen.
