HBOWe made it. The final ever episode of Game of Thrones has aired and with it came a whole host of questions (and basically zero answers).
Okay, okay. We got some answers. For example, we now know who sits on the Iron Throne, despite the fact none of us are very happy about it, and there’s no Iron Throne left to sit on.
We also know what pretty much all of the characters are destined to do now (from Jon Snow being banished to the Night’s Watch to Bran reigning over the Seven – correction, six – Kingdoms).
However, several other loose ends have just been left to trail around in the dust while we the viewers watched at home with a sense of betrayal and confusion. So we’ve decided to put together some of the biggest unanswered questions we have in the hope that someone might be able to come up with an answer.
Where did Jon Snow go with the wildlings?
The matter of Jon Snow and the Night’s Watch was just a bit confusing, to put it bluntly. After murdering Dany, he was sent to the wall as punishment – but we last saw him heading North with the wildlings. Where was he going?
As per The Verge, he could very well be heading away from Westeros to live free with the wildings. After all, there isn’t really much point in the Night’s Watch anymore. Still, it would’ve been nice of the writers to tell us what was going on….
HBOWhere did Drogon carry Daenerys off to?
The dragon just up and left, flying off with Daenerys’ body after she was stabbed by her lover/nephew Jon. Where was he going? And, alright dragons don’t speak, but why weren’t we told about it?
If Bran truly can see into the future, why hasn’t he used his powers for good more?
Although the extent of Bran’s powers have never fully been disclosed, it would make sense that the youngest Stark could see into the future. After all, he set up Arya’s kill by giving her a dagger and then baiting the Night King into place so she could kill him.
He also mentioned in the final episode that he only came all the way to King’s Landing because he knew he would be offered the crown – both of which suggest he has future vision. In which case, why hasn’t he used his powers for good prior to this season?!
Like sure, his powers could be a useful trait for a king to have (understatement of the century), but where were his Three-Eyed Raven powers when everyone could’ve used them? Hello, it just doesn’t make any sense.
HBOWill Arya ever come home?
The Starks lost one of their siblings at the end of the show, but not through death. I know, it came as a surprise to me too. Instead, Arya announced that she was to carry on travelling so she could find out ‘what’s west of Westeros’ and told her siblings she didn’t intend to return North.
But wait, does she mean she’s never going to return ever, or just for a while? We already know she’s an independent gal who doesn’t need a man, but is she really never going to see her siblings again? I guess we’ll never know.
What happened to the Dothraki?
After the Battle of Winterfell, many felt that the Dothraki must have all died because, well, that’s what the episode led us to believe. But alas, we were wrong – as we found out when they turned up very much alive and pumped up in the finale when Dany was giving her speech.
So then where did they go after their queen was murdered? Did they stay in Westeros? Did they go back to Essos? Did they just chill by the docks in King’s Landing forever? And why the hell didn’t they kill Jon as revenge?!
HBOOf course, there are many more questions left unanswered. So many, in fact, that it would be impossible to go through them all in one tiny article so I’ll just summarise them below.
Who is the prince that was promised? Why does the North just get to stay independent? Where’s Nymeria? Will Bran make a good ruler? Who gets Dragonstone? And many, many more…
Phew. I need to go and have a sit down to try and get my head around all of this. Brb.
