AMC May Have Confirmed Breaking Bad Is A Prequel To The Walking Dead

AMC may have just confirmed The Walking Dead is set in the same universe as Breaking Bad.

So, are The Walkers actually just meth-addled vagrants? Well not quite. The only thing linking the two series is a neat little Easter egg which appeared in the latest episode of Fear the Walking Dead.

For those who missed the nod to Breaking Bad it was when Madison (Kim Dickens) and Qaletaqa (Michael Greyeyes) entered the market and the song ‘Negro y Azul: The Ballad of Heisenberg‘ could be heard.

It’s the catchy little ditty which features in Season Two of Breaking Bad.

According to Digital Spy, Showrunner Dave Erickson said:

I tried to be subtle with it. That was probably the moment when I fell the most deeply in love with Breaking Bad, when they did that cold open music video.

As we were looking for pieces to incorporate into this world, it had the right vibe to it. It’s a gentle nod of admiration and adoration to [Bre[Breaking Bad creator]illigan.

Fans have believed Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead are connected ever since the second episode of the hit zombie show featured Merle’s hidden stash of drugs which included some of Walter White’s famous product, Sky Blue Meth.

That’s not the only reference The Walking Dead has made to Breaking Bad.

Daryl once said in a season four episode he had a dealer who was a little ‘janky’.
