There’s no doubt Avengers: Endgame lived up to its expectations of being the most highly anticipated film in recent years.
Smashing box office records right, left, and centre, Endgame certainly didn’t disappoint as the ‘grand conclusion’ for a total of 22 films – starting with Iron Man all those years ago.
Ever since Infinity War came to its tragic and quite frankly unacceptable end, excitement for the sequel began to mount as many waited in suspense to find out what fate awaited the Avengers.
But with excitement levels at an all time high during the three-hour film, you’d be forgiven for missing the unlikely cameo during the final battle sequence.
Because while the Avengers and pretty much every other superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe donned their bad-ass costumes and squared off against Thanos, someone (or something) could be seen hiding in the background.
That someone was none other than Howard the Duck, the fan-favourite anthropomorphic duck. And he wasn’t about to stand around and let everyone else get involved in the action without him!

For those of you who might not have followed the journey of Howard that closely, he first appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy and again in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as he gets his flirt on with a woman on Contraxia.
Voiced by Seth Green, the space hero was initially supposed to make an appearance in Infinity War, with co-director Anthony Russo saying Howard did appear in one draft of the script.
The Russo brother said, as per ScreenGeek:
Howard the Duck was in one draft of the script. Howard the Duck actually had a really good scene… we were going to cameo with Ken Jeong, with Howard the Duck. That was a much-beloved scene by us but it just didn’t end up fitting at all.
And although he didn’t have a major part in Endgame, and was in fact missed by millions of people as they watched the epic face-off in cinemas, Howard did appear.
As per CinemaBlend, the much-loved duck can be spotted standing amongst the many heroes showing up when Doctor Strange, Wong, and the rest of the sorcerers start opening portals.
If you’re planning on heading to the cinema to watch the film for the first (or tenth) time, cast your eyes to the blueish alien to Hope van Dyne’s right. Then, follow that character’s gun downward and voila! There’s Howard.
Don’t be too hard on yourself if you didn’t spot him the first time; there was a lot going on which prevented most of us from doing so.
You can watch Avengers:Endgame in cinemas now.
