Holy f*cking, sh*t I just got out of Avengers: Endgame and I have absolutely no idea what to say about the film.

I’m not going to lie this poses a little bit of a problem, considering I’m being paid to write about it, but I’m hoping as I type inspiration will strike.

Perhaps the best place to start will be the plot. Except of course I can’t talk about the plot because I promised Disney that I wouldn’t ‘Spoil The Endgame’ which again presents a little bit of a conundrum.

What I will say is, if you can, avoid all spoilers for this film. I was lucky enough to remain spoiler free, despite my work involving googling Endgame at least three times a day, and I was blown away by how truly bonkers the plot was.

In fact that’s it! The best way to review Avengers: Endgame isn’t to bore you with a plot synopsis like some weird parody of the BBFC it’s just to tell you how I feel about this film.

As it stands Avengers: Endgame is the best film in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, and yes I’m including Captain America: The Winter Soldier in that.

Endgame was so good in fact that despite it clocking in at three hours long, all I want to do right now is go back and watch it all again.

Endgame is the perfect ending to what’s been recently titled the Infinity Saga, balancing humour and drama while also delivering on the promise of Infinity War’s bleak closing minutes.

In fact I loved this film so much there were several times when I broke my own strict code of silence in the cinema, cheering and clapping like a trained seal.

Seriously, Endgame starts off good and just keeps getting better and better. Each and every time you think it can’t better itself it somehow does.

I put it down to the Russo brothers, who thanks to their incredible film-making chops and confidence, have pulled off the most ambitious crossover ever attempted on the big screen.

I honestly think you’d have to have put the blue aliens from Avatar on the Titanic to have a crossover as brave as this.

Of course I’m a proud Marvel fanboy, I’ve literally bought the t-shirt so to speak. So to tell you dear reader that I laughed and cried throughout the film probably won’t come as much of a surprise.

However I was far from the only one affected. My lovely partner, who accompanied me to the film, was in floods of tears come the end of the film and could only communicate through sobs and gulps.

Needless to say once she calmed down she agreed, telling me: ‘I cried because it was perfect.’

And it was perfect, oh sure people will complain there was too much fan service, or that it was a bit all over the place tonally but those people have missed the point of the film.

It’s a love letter to the fans who’ve stuck with this franchise over the last decade.

It might be because I’ve been up since 5am and that makes me emotional, but if we still did star ratings on our film reviews I wouldn’t give this film five, I’d give it six.
