The Great British Bake Off only returned to our screens on Tuesday but the show is already embroiled in a ‘fix controversy’.

It surrounds the first episode’s ‘Star Baker’ Steven Carter-Bailey who even received the much acclaimed ‘Hollywood Handshake’ in the first round for his Bonfire Night inspired sponge cake.

The popular show sees the country’s best amateur bakers compete against each other but Steven isn’t just any ‘amateur’ as fans discovered online.

The marketing boss has had plenty of practice before entering the tent and has shared his professional looking showstopper cakes on Instagram.

His profile is full of impressive bakes made for family birthdays and weddings and if these are anything to go by then Steven is the one to beat.

Steven’s amazing creations including a cute Minion cake, a lovely flower pot cake and a towering floral wedding cake.

The early favourite to win the show has the skills to continue winning the favour of the judges. Though all it takes to cause an internet outrage these days is a bit of talent. He’s good at baking, so he can’t be an ‘amateur’. Obviously.

We’ll see how he fares with the real judges in biscuit week next Tuesday.
