After this summer’s main event, any royal wedding happening the same year kind of takes a backseat.
Apologies to all the other royals out there, but Harry and Meghan pretty much smashed it out the park, and any royal wedding – especially one just a few months later – is going to pale in comparison.
Nonetheless, another royal wedding is happening. You can’t stand in the way of true love after all, the heart wants what it wants and time stands still for no one.
So Princess Eugenie married her partner Jack Brooksbank today, October 12, in a lovely ceremony in St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.
Unfortunately, the coverage of the wedding was not as extensive as Harry and Meghan’s either. Sorry Eugenie, but you’re just not royal enough for some television channels.
And while more than 800 guests rolled out to see the happy couple get married, with millions more watching on TV, it seems the BBC sent their B-team to cover the job.
Eagle-eyed viewers picked up on some interesting subtitling that was going on during the ceremony. Though spelling mistakes aren’t exactly uncommon on subtitles (just think how fast those guys have to type to keep up?!) this one was particularly bad.
Mishearing, mistaking, mistyping or simply being mischievous, as the commentator narrated the wedding, the subtitles didn’t quite reflect what they were saying.
Instead, the caption appeared:
not sure… What a beautiful breasts. Absolutely fitting her
According to the Mirror, journalist Ollie Bayliss spotted the mistake just as Eugenie was walking up the steps into the chapel.
He shared the moment on Twitter, saying ‘Either the subtitles machine is broken or BBC News are getting rather personal about Princess Eugenie.’
Asked if it was real, he replied:
Yeah on BBC News 24 now – like something from W1A!
The wedding was attended by Prince William and Kate Middleton, as well as Harry and Meghan, while Prince George and Princess Charlotte were page boy and bridesmaid.
Eugenie’s older sister, Princess Beatrice, apparently read a passage from The Great Gatsby, which the bride chose because it ‘immediately reminded’ her of her new husband Jack.
Princess Eugenie is currently ninth in line to the throne, after her older sister. She is the daughter of Prince Andrew, Duke of York, and Sarah ‘Fergie’ Ferguson. Eugenie is the sixth grandchild of the Queen and Prince Philip.
