People of the world are equally annoyed and bemused by the BBC’s choice of pre-programme clip last night and it’s very easy to see why.
Ten years ago yesterday three-year-old Madeleine McCann disappeared from her bed in a holiday apartment she was staying at with her family in Praia da Luz, Portugal.
No trace of Maddie has ever been found.
Below is a timeline of events following her disappearence:
Last night, BBC’s highly acclaimed Panorama broadcast a show documenting the police investigation into the three-year-old’s disappearance.
However it wasn’t the show that got people talking, but the tiny clip that was aired in the seconds before.
The voice over stated: “Now on BBC One, the search goes on in a case like no other. Madeleine McCann ten years on.” The footage shown – a handful or so of birdwatchers peering through their binoculars – searching.
Check it out below:
It was an innocent enough clip but just before a programme specifically about searching for a missing child it just seems a bit… awkward.
As you can probably imagine – Twitter blew up with people commenting on the eye-raising choice:
What do you make of the controversial shitshow?
