HBOThe hotly anticipated final season of hit show Game Of Thrones is officially arriving on our screens in April 2019 and it promises to end the show in epic style.
Being honest I have only watched one episode of Game of Thrones and turned it off realising there were plenty of other better ways to spend my time.
However, while I am not a fan of the show I do understand it is arguably the biggest programme of the past decade, taking television to new heights never reached before.
While I have no idea what is to be expected from the final season, I have been well informed by fans in the office the show will go out with a bang with an enormous battle.
And according to actor Vladimir Furdik, who plays supreme leader of the White Walkers, the Night King, Game Of Thrones‘ largest battle ever will go down in episode three of the upcoming season which is only halfway through!
Describing it as being the ‘biggest battle’ in the history of television, Furdik confirmed the expensive conflict, perhaps the battle of Winterfell, will be the one fans are hoping and praying for.
Recently speaking to Hungarian news website Sorozat Wiki, as translated by a native speaker at Mashable, Furdik teased fans saying:
In the third episode of the last season, there is a battle that the creators intended to be a historic moment in television. Almost the full episode will be about the battle, it will take about one hour.
However, when we tried a quick Google Translate on the Sorozat Wiki article we were unable to locate this particular quote, so maybe this spoiler isn’t entirely accurate, or maybe it was removed… guess we’ll have to wait and see.
Now, if it is as big as Furdik says it is, the battle will certainly be a contender for the greatest in TV history. The Battle of the Bastards will take some beating – I’m reliably informed.
HBOYou would guess the battle Furdik is talking about is the one it took the cast and crew of the show 55 nights to film.
That’s right, it took the team 55 consecutive nights to film the monumental conflict, which is an astounding feat and something I am sure they hope pays off.
Assistant director Jonathan Quinlan, who has worked on 20 episodes of the popular show so far, shared a photo on Instagram of a thank you card sent out to the cast and crew following wrapping on that scene.
HBOAlthough Quinlan quickly deleted the photo, he just wasn’t speedy enough as fans had screenshotted the snap before sharing it on social media.
It read:
This is for the Night Dragons. For enduring 55 straight nights. For enduring the cold, the snow, the rain, the mud, the sheep s**t of Toome and the winds of Magheramorne.
When tens of millions of people around the world watch this episode a year from now, they won’t know how hard you worked. They won’t care how tired you were or how tough it was to do your job in sub-freezing temperatures.
They’ll just understand that they’re watching something that’s never been done before. And that’s because of you.
Thankfully fans only have to wait a few more months to see just how epic this battle is which, hopefully, will be worth the wait.
