Bill and Ted 3 has been in the works for some time but fans can really start getting excited now because production is officially underway.
28 years seems like a ridiculously long time to make us wait for a third instalment of their excellent adventures – especially for two guys with a time machine – but hopefully it will all be worth it!
Keanu Reeves has obviously been busy taking part in action-packed dramas, and while John Wick is no doubt a great hit I’m sure fans will be relieved to know he’s now back alongside Alex Winter, with the pair ready and raring to bring Bill and Ted back to life.
Winter shared the exciting news about the start of production on Twitter, where he made it clear that despite nearly three decades apart the cast and crew members were as close as ever.
He wrote:
Just got to location to shoot @BillandTed3. Making movies is a miraculous gig, but it’s also stressful & fairly nuts.
Good to be here with @ed_solomon, our great director & producer, many folks I’ve known most of my life. We’re family, and that makes this all the more special.
Bill and Ted 3, officially titled Bill and Ted: Face The Music, is set to be released next year and comes from director Dean Parisot, of Galaxy Quest fame.
As even the best make up would struggle to cover almost 30 years of aging, the film is set to focus on the two main characters as middle-aged men. Although the pair have embarked on some pretty intense adventures in the past, this one promises to raise the stakes ‘higher than ever’.
The official synopsis reads:
Yet to fulfill their rock and roll destiny, the now middle-aged best friends set out on a new adventure, when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it and bring harmony to the universe.
Along the way, they will be helped by their families, old friends and a few music legends.
William Sadler has been confirmed to return as Death and the film has been scripted by writers Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson who also created the first two films, 1989’s Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure and 1991’s Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey, suggesting the third film will stay true to the franchise.
Reeves and Winter better bring their A-game to impress fans after the long wait!
Bill and Ted: Face The Music is set to be released on August 21, 2020.
