The American actress and model, Blake Lively, has come under a lot of fire after she was accused of posting a picture on Instagram with a ‘racist’ caption.

While at Cannes Film Festival for the red carpet premier of her latest film, Cafe Society, Lively shared a snap of her face and her rather large posterior with a caption reading, ‘L.A Face with an Oakland Booty’.

For those of you who aren’t aware, the caption was a reference to the 1992 classic by Sir Mix-A-Lot, Baby Got Back – a song about a love of humongous buttocks while also challenging the mainstream depiction of beauty in the early 90’s.

The line ‘LA Face with an Oakland Booty’, is pretty much exactly what it says on the tin. It’s about a woman whose face looks like she’s from Los Angeles, whereas her ‘booty’ looks like it comes from Oakland – a neighbouring city with a large African American population, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.

So yeah, you can see why people aren’t too happy about it:

Whereas others said that the whole thing had been massively blown out of proportion:

Whether you think it’s racist or not, one thing remains certain. Baby Got Back-lash.
