Bob’s Burgers: The Movie has been been given an official release date from Disney, delighting those who’ve been longing to see the animated sitcom get the silver screen treatment.
This actually happens to be the very same release date which was originally cooked up back in 2017, with Bob’s Burgers: The Movie set to be served up in cinemas from July 17, 2020.
The official date was announced alongside Disney’s updated film release schedule up until to 2027, a list which includes hotly anticipated releases such as Avatar 2 and the live action Mulan.
As of yet, it is unclear what exactly the plot of Bob’s Burgers: The Movie will be, with the IMDb synopsis reading simply:
Plot unknown. Feature film based on the animated TV series.
At the time the movie was announced, show creator Loren Bouchard made the following statement, according to Deadline:
We’re thrilled to be invited to bring Bob’s Burgers to the big screen.
We know the movie has to scratch every itch the fans of the show have ever had, but it also has to work for all the good people who’ve never seen the show.
We also know it has to fill every inch of the screen with the colors and the sounds and the ever so slightly greasy texture of the world of Bob’s – but most of all it has to take our characters on an epic adventure. In other words, it has to be the best movie ever made. But no pressure, right?!
Bouchard will reportedly pen the script, which is said to take the form of a musical comedy. In 2018, Bouchard revealed how the movie will see the youngest Belcher sibling – Louise – reunited with her beloved nightlight, Kuchi Kopi.
Bob’s Burgers: The Movie will follow the animated adventures of Bob Belcher (H. Jon Benajmin), Linda Belcher (John Roberts), Eugene Belcher (Eugene Mirman), Tina Belcher (Dan Mintz), Louise Belcher (Kristen Schaal), and Teddy (Larry Murphy).
The first season debuted in 2011 to mixed reviews. However, in the years since, the eccentric Belcher family have won the hearts of critics and loyal fans alike with their quirky, offbeat humour.
The confirmation of this movie release date has proven to be very tasty news for fans, who have taken to Twitter for a collective lip-smacking.
One person tweeted:
Me: Disney’s new release slate shows a concerning monopoly on entertainment media.
Also me: Bob’s Burgers movie tho.
Another cheered:
