Chances are, unless you have been living on a deserted island, you have been urged by at least one person that you absolutely must watch Breaking Bad.

A couple of years ago, admitting you hadn’t actually got round to watching this neo-western meth saga would have been akin to slapping a prestige-telly addict in the face.

Philosophical, thrilling and endlessly compelling; no other show has had me glued to my laptop in quite the same way. Eyes reddened, heart racing and fingers twitching at the ‘next’ icon for my next fix…

It is therefore surely no great surprise to anyone that season five of Breaking Bad has been voted the best television show season ever.

With a Metacritic score of 99/100 and a user score of 9.7/10, this season is revered within what is already a critically adored show. Notably beloved episodes include Ozymandias, Granite State and Felina.

This is according to a list of acclaimed TV shows compiled by The Independent, which takes into account Metacritic rankings and audience scores.

Runners up included Rectify season four at number two and Murder One season one at number three.

An excellent choice. However, writing this has really made me want to go back and watch the whole show all over again. Much like Walt, I just don’t know when to stop…
