Prepare to feel old, everyone – the first Toy Story film was released in 1995.

I think you’ll agree though, the film hasn’t aged a day, and still captures the imagination of new, younger viewers, while providing a heady dose of nostalgia for older ones.

The series of Toy Story films have not only been successful because they are funny, engaging, heartfelt and meticulously created stories, but because they opened up a fantasy world that all of us have entertained at one time or another – a world where toys come to life when we’re not watching.

Such films attract dedicated fans, who have grown up with the tales of Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the gang over the years.

Morgan and Mason McGrew are not only big fans of the Pixar franchise, but are so dedicated to the films they’ve painstakingly recreated Toy Story 3 ‘IRL’, using real toys and stop motion techniques to recreate the CGI film shot by shot, and turn it into a ‘real-life’ version.

Morgan told ABC News:

It is hands down our favorite film of all time. Toy Story 3 means the world to us, so it was awesome getting to spend time on translating it to real life. We both dreamed of having a room like Andy’s as kids.

With the release of Toy Story 4 just around the corner, the two brothers have released the trailer for their film of Toy Story 3 IRL, promising to the release the full thing by September 19 this year.

They posted the trailer on YouTube and, in less than 24 hours, it received more than 192,000 views.

Along with the clip, they wrote:

Two brothers (with the support of their awesome family and friends) have been working on a shot-for-shot recreation of Toy Story 3. This project has been an incredible undertaking, and they’ve made the decision to have this complete by September 19, 2019. Finally, a release date! Remember, this is not a studio film, nor is the project in any way backed by Disney/Pixar. With that said, release date is subject to change.

We do not own Toy Story 3. This is simply a project inspired by the incredible film and studio that is Disney-Pixar.

As the trailer shows, the attention to detail is amazing – even the Walt Disney and Pixar logos have been lovingly remade ‘IRL’.

As one person commented: ‘What ever gave you the idea to do this, I’m glad it happened. Enjoy your much deserved rise to fandom.’

Another said: ‘This is insanely incredible, and was made with pure love for Toy Story.’

If the trailer is anything to go by, this is sure to keep us entertained until Toy Story 4 hits cinemas on June 21 this year.
