Game of Thrones actress Lena Headey has posted a new behind-the-scenes pic which reveals the cast is already filming the final series.

Lena, who plays Cersei Lannister in the hit television show, shared a snap of herself on Instagram wearing a wig you’d normally see on Emilia Clarke aka Daenerys Targaryen.

Standing next to the show’s hair stylists Kevin Alexander and Candice Banks, Lena looks pretty happy with her new do.

The actress intriguingly captioned the photo:

Season 8… Hair and Teeth… HAIR AND TEETH!!!

This of course has led many to believe that this chirpy snap confirms Lena has joined the cast in Belfast where they are filming the final series of the hit show.

Game of Thrones fan site Winter Is Coming says:

Obviously, we don’t expect Cersei to go platinum blonde for season eight — the trio appears to just be having some fun with some old Daenerys wigs here — but this does tell us that Headey is back in the mix, likely in Belfast getting ready to film her final scenes.

It’s almost wistful to type that — we’ve done this behind-the-scenes song and dance before, tracking as cast members trickle in to filming locations and wondering about what they might shoot next.

This will be the last time we do that. But if Headey can enjoy the process, so can we.

Adding to the rumour mill is the other half of the incestuous siblings, Jaime Lannister.

Lena’s co-star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau recently said he would be back on set this month.

He told Collider:

I knew what was going to happen for the first three seasons. After that, it’s been a season at a time.

You get the scripts a month before we start shooting, or six weeks, and then you know what’s going to happen that season.

But, I don’t know what’s going to happen next season.

We go back in October, so maybe in the next few weeks, we’ll get the scripts and I’ll find out.

I’m very curious.

Since it’s now October, it is very likely the cast have begun filming.

It was reported this morning that series eight scripts are finally finished and the cast will be doing a complete read-through for the new episodes next week.

During a panel at Stockholm’s Comic-Con, British actor Iain Glen, who plays Ser Jorah Mormont in the series, said that a full cast read-through is taking place on October 9.

The actor admitted that he, like Coster-Waldau, has no idea what to expect from the final series.

He said:

I would just be happy to be alive and in what I imagine is going to be a massive battle [in which] I then survive or die nobly.

Glen also spoke about why production on this series is taking far longer than previous ones.

He explained:

We’re all starting to occupy the same territory, we’re all starting to be in the same storylines and so they can’t [have two filming units] anymore.

I think this last season will take much longer to shoot because they can only use one unit because we’re all in the same sort of scenes.

So even though production has begun we will sadly have to wait a long time to finally see the final series.

But don’t despair at the thought of the end of Game of Thrones, as more spin offs are in the pipeline.
