Chris Pratt broke one of the Avengers: Endgame set rules and recorded a video on his phone – then shared it with the entire world.
There’s no doubt the recently released Marvel film was one of the most highly-anticipated movies of all time, and the secrecy surrounding it only served to make fans even more excited.
For a whole year after the release of Infinity War, all we could do was speculate about exactly how the Avengers would react after Thanos turned half of civilisation into dust, and not even Endgame trailers gave any useful clues.
The cast and crew were obviously sworn to secrecy, but Pratt couldn’t resist capturing one surreal moment from the set in a candid video:
The actor panned around the set, and, in just a few seconds, managed to capture a number of incredible A-listers as they hung out between takes.
Anyone who’s seen Endgame will likely recognise the landscape the actors are surrounded by, though the green screen in the background does somewhat shatter the illusion created in the film.
I suppose at least it’s good advertising for whoever was in charge of visual effects!
Pratt shared the video on Instagram, where he expressed his awe at the situation through the caption, writing:
I remember being blown away in this moment on the @avengers set. Nobody was allowed to film anything on their phones.
I said screw it. No rule was going to stop me from seizing this once in a lifetime opportunity to capture this collection of stars, a group that likely will never be in the same room again. We are so blessed.
The short video panned past Dave Bautista, made up in character as Drax the Destroyer, and some of the other Guardians before zooming in on Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) and Chris Hemsworth (Thor).
Marvel StudiosPratt then pulled back to capture Chris Evans (Captain America) pulling a face at the camera, Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther) and Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), before zooming in again on Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), and catching Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange) in the process.
The video then shows Sean Gunn (motion capture for Groot and Rocket Raccoon), who I have to admit I didn’t recognise, saying ‘I’m pretty sure I’m the most famous person here’.
It’s amazing to see so many incredible actors all gathered together in one small space – and even more mind-blowing to think about how much it must have cost to have them all there.
But it obviously paid off, because the film earned over $1 billion in the box office in the first five days of its release.
It will certainly be hard to top that all-star cast!
