FXAs American Horror Story continues to build the hype towards its next series, two familiar faces have confirmed their reappearance in the show.
Dylan McDermott and Connie Britton, stars of American Horror Story: Murder House have announced they are coming back for this season’s Apocalypse, which is set to be a crossover between Murder House and Coven.
The new season will be the eighth instalment of the popular show, created by Ryan Murphy.
While other details of the next season are scarce, it’s suspected the pair will be reprising their roles as married couple Ben and Vivien Harmon from season one, as The Wrap reports.
In season one, the couple moved into the titular haunted house and, before (spoiler alert!) meeting her maker, Vivien gave birth to a child, Michael, who was adopted by their neighbour Constance, played by Jessica Lange.
Could the return of the two actors suggest a sort of resurrection? Or a flashback scenario? Or are they merely still happily living as ghosts in the murder house? Only time will tell.
Thankfully, a trailer for the new series has given us a sneak peak of things to come.

Screenwriter Ryan Murphy revealed that the next season will be the afore mentioned crossover of the show’s first season Murder House and third season Coven.
Coven, as well as previous series Asylum, focused on witches who survived the Salem Witch Trials and the horrors of a mental institute, respectively, with both receiving critical acclaim.
It’s also been confirmed actors Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters, who both starred in Murder House and Coven, will be back for the eighth season.
Other American Horror Story alumni to make a comeback include Kathy Bates, Cheyenne Jackson, Billy Eichner, Adina Porter, Leslie Grossman, and the inimitable Jessica Lange.

Speaking about his inspiration for American Horror Story a few years back, Murphy told Interview Magazine:
Like all my TV shows, it’s rooted in a childhood obsession. Two actually: Dark Shadows and a movie called Don’t Look Now [1973], with Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie.
The thing on the poster is Rubber Man. He’s a monster in the show and he dresses up in latex, and he’s supposed to represent every woman’s deepest sexual fears and desires.
What I really wanted to do was my version of Dark Shadows, where there are creatures and a soap opera and sex, because my grandmother used to make me watch Dark Shadows as punishment . . . when I was three.
I would sit there and be very afraid, and then the next day I would say, ‘Nana, I want to watch the program again.’ I would call it a program. I would hide behind the chair. I just loved feeling scared.
And it’s obviously worked, because Murphy has managed to share that scary feeling with millions of people thanks to the creation of one of the creepiest shows ever to hit screens.
Murphy’s tweet states American Horror Story season 8 will air in September 2018.
