I tend to avoid watching horror movies because, well, I’m a wimp, but whenever I have subjected myself to the fear I’ve never, not even once, thought ‘now that’s somewhere I’d love to live’.
I mean, haunted houses are thrilling when you’re in them for a few minutes at a funfair but you don’t want to spend your entire life in fear, do you.
Well, apparently scary stories weren’t enough to put Cory Heinzen and wife Jennifer off their dream house in Rhode Island, which just so happened to be the actual place which inspired The Conjuring.
The horror film is based on the true story of the Perron family, who lived in the Harrisville home in the 1970s, as well as famous paranormal experts Ed and Lorraine Warren.
In the movie, the investigators are summoned to the secluded farmhouse after the Perrons and their five daughters moved in and a horrific supernatural presence made itself known.
In an interview with USA Today, Andrea Perron, the oldest of the five daughters, stood by her claim evil spirits lived in the house.
Paranormal expert Lorraine spoke about the scary house, saying:
The things that went on there were just so incredibly frightening. It still affects me to talk about it today.
So, naturally, when the farmhouse went up for sale a few months ago paranormal investigator Cory just had to snap it up.
According to the Sun Journal, Cory explained:
We immediately fell in love with it. Eight-and-a-half acres, a river in the back and a pond, it’s so serene down there, never mind the story behind the house, it’s a beautiful home.
(Jennifer) honestly was more excited than I was, I think.
So we did something yesterday, bought this little farmhouse with a crazy history to it. I think it was Even made into a movie? With Jennifer Heinzen, Roxanne Jasparro and John Jasparro

The couple reportedly closed the sale on June 21 but it wasn’t long before the eerie occurrences began.
The new owner continued:
We had doors opening, footsteps and knocks. I’ve had a hard time staying there by myself. I don’t have the feeling of anything evil, (but) it’s very busy. You can tell there’s a lot of things going on in the house.
Cory and Jennifer hope to fix up their Conjuring house before opening it up to visitors and investigators later this year. Despite the unexplained knocks and footsteps, Jennifer still seems optimistic for their plans as she described the journey as both scary and exciting.
I hope the pair are very happy with their new property, though you certainly won’t catch me ever stopping by for a visit!
