HBOThe untimely death of Littlefinger was pretty much a foregone conclusion as soon as soon as Bran came out with ‘chaos is a ladder’.
From that point on, we knew Lord Baelish was living on borrowed time, but it was just possible that the scheming Lord had one or more little tricks left up his sleeve.
Petyr Baelish has long been a major spanner in the works for the Starks and Lannisters. It was basically him who started off the whole Game of Thrones to begin with.

He’s a master of subterfuge and double-crossing, so when he died at the hands of Arya and Sansa, we couldn’t help but feel like it was ever so slightly misjudged.
Why keep Littlefinger around for the whole series, basically doing nothing, only to kill him in the final ep with very few consequences?
HBOSaying that, it was incredibly gratifying watching the manipulative little shit completely shocked and scared at the prospect of his demise.
We as an audience were equally shocked, because we had no idea that Sansa was going to make that decision.
In an interview with Variety, Isaac Hempstead-Wright revealed that there was a scene cut from the finale that they shot that would have removed this surprise.

We actually did a scene that clearly got cut, a short scene with Sansa where she knocks on Bran’s door and says, ‘I need your help,’ or something along those lines.
So basically, as far as I know, the story was that it suddenly occurred to Sansa that she had a huge CCTV department at her discretion (the Three-Eyed Raven’s memory) and it might be a good idea to check with him first before she guts her own sister.
So she goes to Bran, and Bran tells her everything she needs to know, and she’s like, ‘Oh, shit.’
HBOIt makes sense that the scene was cut, as it would definitely have given away too much about Sansa’s motives.
There’s also an interview with Isaac and IGN, where he says that Bran was effectively staying out of the conflict between Arya and Sansa until Sansa worked it out on her own.
HBOHe said:
It was a battle between Sansa and Arya really, and it wasn’t any of Bran’s business until Sansa thought ‘why don’t I fact check this with the best fact checker in the universe’ and Bran was like ‘Littlefinger did this and this and this.’
Because Bran has a real idea of destinies, I think he was waiting for his sister to come to him to give her the knowledge.
I don’t think he would have let that happen and he wouldn’t have sat there while Arya got killed by Sansa, because Bran would have known that wasn’t the way things had to go. He would have known ‘I need to be here to reveal what the truth is.’
HBOThere you have it, confirmation from Bran himself that he’s basically a bit of a prick, and just letting his sisters have it off without even stepping in and setting the record straight.
Bran’s the worst.
