The epic love saga of Jack Fincham and Dani Dyer has kept Love Island viewers enthralled throughout the summer heatwave.
We willed their love to hold strong throughout the tense lie detector results, the noisy baby challenge and through that awful Casa Amour separation bit where Dani’s tears drew actual Ofcom complaints.
And, much like a sturdy unicorn float in a wave pool, Jack and Dani have weathered the course of the series; showing themselves to be worthy candidates for spinoff reality shows and This Morning segments for some time to come.
We all know their love is as pure and as life-affirming as a spotless Majorcan sky. But did you know their romance is actually certifiably unique?
Unlike all other winners before them, Jack and Dani have remained Love Island ‘virgins’, eschewing any sort of membership to Wes Nelson’s exclusive ‘Do Bits Society‘.
Each night, the couple resisted any temptation with all the dedication of monks; sleeping acres apart in the same bed after sharing an innocent kiss.
Even when they spent a night alone together in the notoriously raunchy hideaway, there was absolutely ‘no funny business’ according to Jack.
Their strict celibacy pact was reportedly because Dani didn’t want to embarrass her famous dad, Eastenders star Danny Dyer.
Despite Danny Senior apparently being being fairly relaxed about it all, Dani remained adamant:
My dad’s open, he’s like: ‘Dan, you’ve got to do what you want to do and what makes you happy.’
He’s not sat there with a rule book. But obviously because he is in the limelight, I wouldn’t want to do anything that can go back on him.
I personally would not have sex on TV. That is not a thing for me. Whoever does it, I will have a chat with the girl about it. I don’t care. But on a personal level, it’s just not something I’d do.
And it hasn’t been an easy pact for the lovebirds to keep. Confiding in Adam Collard and Wes, Jack admitted:
I will need to wear a sarong so no one can see it. It’s f***ing hard work in here… It is what it is, mate. We are warriors. We can wait. Good things come to those who wait.
Champions of 2017, Amber Davies and Kem Cetinay certainly did not hold back, reportedly even enjoying a bonk in the swimming pool.
2016 champs Cara De La Hoyde and Nathan Massey – who have since had a child together – attempted to hold off, but eventually found themselves in the throes of passion some weeks in.
Speaking to The Sun, Nathan said:
When you’ve got true feelings for each other, sex is important, we did it under the covers because our parents were watching,
We didn’t want to disrespect them and it’s not a fling.
And way back in 2015, winners Jessica Hayes and Max Morley famously got jiggy in the hideaway after a task involving horse riding.
Well done Jack and Dani! And here’s to some much longed-for privacy at last…
