Reactions to the new Avengers: Endgame trailer have mostly been those of excitement, but one fan decided it needed some editing as a very important, foul-mouthed Marvel character was missing.
There’s just over a month to go until the highly anticipated sequel to Infinity War hits the big screen.
While much of the movie has been kept under wraps, last week, Disney treated fans to some new footage, showing the Avengers will do ‘whatever it takes’ to defeat Thanos.
While the determined superheroes appear very majestic and powerful, the trailer seems to be somewhat lacking in satire.
To be fair, Thanos did just snap the universe into oblivion, so they’ve some serious issues to deal with, but there’s no harm in adding a little bit of comic relief, is there?
At least, that’s what YouTuber ‘Mightyraccoon!’ decided.
Check out their version of the trailer here:
Unfortunately Ryan Reynolds’ character never made it into the official Avengers club, but it hasn’t stopped Deadpool commenting on his Marvel co-stars in his own movies.
He’s been known to make digs at Hawkeye and Thanos, as well as referring to Black Panther and Black Widow, so Mightyraccoon! appeared to use these jokes as inspiration to show what it’d look like if the masked mercenary was in Endgame.
The trailer opens with Deadpool lying casually in the devastated landscape, cutting off Tony Stark’s opening words and commenting ‘this Deadpool shit’s getting boring right? Well I don’t fucking care’.
I’m pretty sure it’s not actually Reynolds behind this particular portrayal of the character, but I think the actor would approve of the recognition.
Deadpool goes on to give Captain America a boost so he can effectively have his face reflected in the army recruitment poster, before being shot in the face by Hawkeye’s daughter as she practices with a bow and arrow.
He takes a jab at Ant-Man, asking ‘looking for your superpowers?’ as Scott Lang looks around, and even adds his own clip of the mantra ‘whatever it takes’.
From then, all other characters are basically dismissed as Deadpool’s face takes over them all, culminating in a dramatic march of Deadpools all wearing their new white suits.
He even makes it into the final scene with Captain Marvel, where he gets whacked by Thor’s hammer and screams ‘Oh, Canada!’.
While I’m sure many fans would welcome Deadpool into Endgame, it seems like he might just get in the way of the Avengers’ mission. I don’t think Thanos will be defeated with witty insults.
Still, it’s fun to see what the collaboration might look like!
Hilarious.
Avengers: Endgame hits cinemas in the UK on April 25, 2019.
