Doctor Strange Could Usher In A Whole New Era For Marvel

Doctor Strange has managed to fully introduce the concept of multiple dimensions to the MCU, to blistering success.

So the good folks over at Cinemablend have used this opportunity to break down the barriers between the Avengers and the X-Men.

It could work like this. The MCU would have their own universe with The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy, while the X-Men would still live in their world with all things mutanty; and Fantastic Four would… hopefully do nothing.

But then in theory they could all join together to destroy an ultra-villain (maybe Galactus) using multi-dimensional travel before returning to where they came from.

Of course, there’s more at play here than mere story considerations. Marvel currently don’t have the rights to the X-Men, Deadpool or the Fantastic Four, with 20th Century Fox retaining control of the properties.

However, there seems to be increased willingness for inter-company productions as the upcoming Spiderman: Homecoming indicates.

Spidey is owned by Sony, and they still retain rights to his solo films, however they’ve collaborated with Marvel to bring him to the shared MCU after The Amazing Spider-Man 2 didn’t meet their expectations.

Could 20th Century Fox possibly go down this route by interweaving their heroes? It could certainly be a lucrative deal, and the possibility of seeing the characters mix would bring fans to their knees with joy.

However, 20th Century are having a stonker of a year with Deadpool becoming the highest grossing R-rated film of all time. And with the new X-Men: Apocalypse cast, they are clearly pinning their hopes on a rejuvenated franchise.

It’s unlikely that they will feel the pressure to relinquish control over their heroes if they don’t feel the squeeze.

Still, the idea is a fun one and everyone can agree that Deadpool going toe-to-toe with Tony Stark is a film we would all like to see.

There literally are worlds of opportunities.
