Jon Favreau (Pete Becker from Friends) is after another challenge after his live action Jungle Book remake, and has taken on the king of all childhood films – The Lion King.
With the current movie scene awash with disappointing remakes, the child inside me screams ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’.
A small mercy Favreau has given us though is casting the original voice of Mufasa, James Earl Jones to take on his role once more, while Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino) will be Simba.
Using similar cutting edge technology, CGI, and green screen used in the Jungle Book, he will bring to life The Lion King.
Donald Glover has risen to success in both his music and now acting, taking on the role of Lando Calrissian in the young Han Solo Star Wars spinoff, according to the Hollywood reporter.
Just as with Jungle Book, I think this remake will succeed in being box office hit and bringing the story to life, but leave nothing to the imagination by making a precious story too real.
Let’s stick to recycling plastic, not films.
