Yes you read that right, Don’t Tell The Bride, one of the U.K’s top ‘reality’ TV shows is actually fake, none of the couples in the show get married.

In other news, water is wet.

The popular reality show, which started it’s life on BBC3, is based on the idea that engaged couples get a shit tonne of cash for their weddings.

The only catch is that it’s the groom who has to arrange the nuptials, and the bride doesn’t have a clue what’s going on.

Aside from the fact that nobody is actually daft enough to spend their money doing half the shit this lot get up to, this reveal just proves that reality TV is a myth.

After the cameras stop rolling, the lucky couple have to go to a separate ceremony in a registry office in order to legalise the union.

One groom said:

It was written into our contract that our ceremony would not be legally binding and so we should go to a registry office later.

That is what we did. But we had no follow up from anyone from the show after the filming, so we could easily have avoided it and had the party for free.

It makes a bit of a mockery of the process that the bride and groom go through this huge ordeal for a ceremony which isn’t even legal.

I suppose it’s not the end of the world, plenty of couples have a ceremony before legalising the marriage in a different place.

But still, it does make you question what other parts of the show aren’t real.

An E4 spokesperson said:

All contributors sign notice to marry for their legal ceremony in the presence of a production team member but before filming starts.

An update or photos from this legal ceremony is shown at the end of each episode

It doesn’t really stop your enjoyment of Don’t Tell The Bride, but it kind of lowers the stakes a little bit.
