It was the fictional death that shook a nation. No amount of magic could mend our broken hearts, as Snape delivered the final killing curse to Dumbledore and he fell off the big tower.
Wands raised in tribute, we mourned the loss of the Hogwarts headmaster and Harry Potter‘s hero and mentor.
But in a move that is peak Hollywood, the director of Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them 2 has announced that Dumbledore will be returning to our screens in the new eagerly-awaited Harry Potter franchise.
With all muggle ears upon him, Director David Yates said:
In the second movie, Dumbledore comes back. He’s got a couple of good scenes with Newt.
The Fantastic Beasts franchise – which has so far confirmed four films – will narrate the fight between the Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald, one of the most dangerous dark wizards of all time and the sociopathic revolutionary responsible for Europe’s magic war.
You might know him better as the bloke who stole the Elder Wand.
imagine if the Fantastic Beasts franchise follows in the footsteps of Xavier in X-Men: First Class, and makes Young Dumbledore a total skank

Towards the end of the original Harry Potter franchise, those of us waiting for our Hogwarts letter in the post became somewhat disillusioned with Dumbledore, as the character became more complex amid the darkness brewing under Voldemort’s increasingly power and impending threat.
Fantastic Beasts 2 will see a younger Dumbledore – an origin story, if you like. If my calculations are correct, the timeline of these films, set in the 1920s, would make Dumbledore about 45-years-old.
It is not clear whether we will see a young, idealistic Dumbledore or a man in peril, grieving for the loss of his sister. Yates has remained tight-lipped, but did add, ‘We’re discussing who would play Dumbledore. Any suggestions would be good.’
Two legends of stage and screen, Micheal Gambon and Richard Harris, have played Dumbledore prior.
With the elusive announcement that Johnny Depp will be cast in the film, in an as of yet unknown role, this move is set to be magical.
I can't shake the feeling that Johnny Depp is gonna be playing a young Dumbledore in Fantastic Beasts, and that terrifies me.

I'm kinda mad Domhnall Gleeson played Bill Weasley cause he'd make a perfect young Dumbledore in the fantastic beasts movies.

And just so you know:
I really want Michael Fassbender to play young Albus Percival Wulfric Bryan Dumbledore.

Have your say here:
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them welcomes us back to the wizarding world later this month… Accio 18 November!
It’s almost as if Dumbledore himself has risen from the ashes like his good mate Fawkes.
Be still my healing heart.
