Exciting New Details Have Just Emerged About Stranger Things Season 2

Fans of the series rejoice, but if you don’t want any spoilers about the second series of Stranger Things, look away now, as we’ve got the latest info hot off the press.

People went into a meltdown after the Season one finale, but now it seems we have more information to keep us going through the dark days without the successful sci-fi smash.

Netflix have finally released a synopsis, although it is somewhat ominous, painfully teasing us about the treats in store for us on the series’ October return.

They posted online:

A year after Will’s return, everything seems back to normal… but a darkness lurks just beneath the surface, threatening all of Hawkins.

Entertainment Weekly were lucky enough to catch up with the Duffer brothers and managed to drag out a bit more information on what we can expect from the gang and the Upside Down.

Season two apparently opens with the kids dressed as the Ghostbusters, heading out on Halloween and explores Will’s return after his disturbing experience in the ‘other’ realm.

David Harbour said:

It’s a year later in the story, so there are several things that happened last year, like Will has come back.

There are certain people in the town that know what happened, and then certain people that don’t know what happened.

Winona Ryder’s character has a new boyfriend in the form of a new character, Bob – played by Sean Astin – and copper Jim Hopper is desperately trying to keep the bizarre events under wraps.

Alongside Bob, the series will see two more characters in the form of Billy (Dacre Montgomery) and Max (Sadie Sink) to add to the drama.

There’s no further updates on the whereabouts of Eleven, but rumours are strongly suggesting she survived, as did her evil ‘papa’, Dr Martin Brenner.

David Harbour told Entertainment Weekly:

He (Hopper) may understand that Eleven exists in some form. And so he’s got this box out in the woods where he gives her food.

Co-creator Matt Duffer explained to Entertainment Weekly about the new timescale of the series, which is set a year later and what that might mean.

He said:

Season one actually takes place over the course of six or seven days – it’s a really short period of time.

So part of what we want to do with hypothetical Season 2 is to explore the repercussions of everything that happened.

He was also keen to stipulate, the second series is definitely a sequel and not a brand new story, although the format will remain the same, with nine episodes of 45-55 minutes.

Producer Shawn Levy told Slashfilm:

The plan is to continue with this set of characters while introducing a few critical key new ones next season.

So I’ll just say that a lot of the big mysteries get answered at the end of Season one, but we are very much kind of unearthing new problems and questions that merit future stories and future investigation in the most enjoyable way.

Things end up being resolved to some extent at the end of Season one, but not entirely.

We’re also excited to reveal the latest season gives a much bigger insight into the creepy goings on of the Upside Down too.

Co-creator Ross Duffer said:

The plan in that second season is to get into more of those questions, like why there was only one monster and what the Upside Down is exactly.

We have all those answers and didn’t feel like they were necessary to answer this season.

The mystery of Barb and what on earth became of her, as well as the question as to whether she’ll ever return to the show, is the burning question on all of our lips.

Although sadly, it seems she is no more, according to Matt Duffer…

He told IGN:

I can’t see it happening.

Barb will not be forgotten. We’ll make sure there’s some justice for Barb.

People get very frustrated, understandably, that the town doesn’t seem to be really dealing with Barb. That stuff is all happening.

That’s a real shame, but at least there is some justice in the pipeline for Nancy’s unfortunate friend…

Matt explained they will be continuing the theme of kick-ass strong women featured in the series, which has added to the series’ popularity and set it apart from others.

He said:

That was something that was very important to us and we would do well to keep moving forward.

It even seems the series has attracted attention from the likes of director M.Night Shyamalan, who is keen to get involved in the action.

He told Digital Spy:

My boys who do Stranger Things, they did Wayward Pines for me. They were round my house and I was like, ‘Well you can hire me back, guys!’

Well the second series is shot, so this can only mean there will be more to come…

Ross Duffer said:

Everything changes as we move forward so we’ll see.

And Matt Duffer added on the subject of how and when it might come to an end:

I want it to have a really finite ending. I don’t want it to be one of those shows that runs out of gas and they lose it because they’re losing interest.

You wanna end when you’re on top.

The sequel is sounding pretty good though, as co-founder Reed Hastings and Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos have already admitted to NME, episode one is ‘fantastic.’
