Warning: Contains Spoilers

Jon Snow game of thronesHBO

With the latest episode of Game of Thrones having only just finished, you’d better believe fans are waiting (im)patiently for the fifth – and penultimate – instalment of the show.

Obviously, that means theories about what the bloody hell is going to happen next are being thrown around, with many wondering what King’s Landing might have in store for the characters.

If you haven’t watched Sunday night’s episode yet, here’s your five second warning that this article contains spoilers so go and watch it before you read on.

After defeating the army of the dead in episode three, you’d think Jon Snow and crew would just want to have a bev and celebrate with their mates. You know, take a break from all the misery for a while.

Although they did get their groove on for a little while, the party soon came to a stop when the troops decided to prepare for another war – this time at King’s Landing. Come on guys, really?

So while we might have been safe in the knowledge that the majority of the cast are safe from the Night King for all of five minutes, now we have to come to terms with the fact that they’ll probably all perish at the hands of Cersei, aka the embodiment of evil.

Okay, maybe not everyone will perish, but fans certainly think Jon Snow will.

Why? Well, primarily because of an interview Kit Harington did with Entertainment Weekly in which he mentioned how ‘Shakespearian’ the coming episodes are. You know Shakespeare, the guy who ended all his plays with a tragedy of some sort? Yeah, him.

Kit explained why Sunday’s episode was one of his favourites, saying:

One of my favourite episodes is four because the characters have seemingly got what they needed. The world is safe now. They’re celebrating and saying goodbye to lost friends.

But as an audience you’re going, ‘This is only episode 4, something’s going to happen.’ And that’s the cool thing because I think the characters are aware of this as well. There’s something twisted and uncomfortable about it. It’s so Shakespearian.

His comments have only served to back up fan theories that Jon isn’t going to survive for much longer on the show, with many predicting the character’s death on social media.

Others believe this would fit in with Jon not saying bye to Ghost at the end of Sunday’s episode, causing pretty much everyone watching at home to hate him.

But what if it was because Jon knew he wasn’t coming back and didn’t want to make the ‘goodbye’ any harder? What if he just couldn’t face saying bye to his beloved direwolf for the last time?

It would certainly make a lot more sense than him just abandoning the loyal animal without a word (although I’m still very angry at you, Jon Snow. Just FYI).

Oh god, with two episodes left before Game of Thrones finishes forever, I know more people are going to die. I know it, but that doesn’t mean I can handle it.

What do you think? Is Jon safe or will we soon witness his death?
