The franchise has already offered up eight feature films, two shorts, and one spin-off, but who’s counting. Just give us more.

Confirming production had entered the filming phase was Nathalie Emmanuel, who has appeared as Ramsey in both Fast 7 and The Fate Of The Furious.

The former Hollyoaks actor and Game Of Thrones favourite took to Twitter to confirm the Fast cast reunion.

Emmanuel wrote:

Day one of shooting Fast and Furious 9 today… The team is back together.

As per ComicBook, Emmanuel’s use of emoji would appear to represent Dom (Vin Diesel), Letty (Michelle Rodriguez), Roman (Tyrese Gibson), Mia (Jordana Brewster), and Tej (Ludacris).

You won’t be seeing Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson or Jason Statham in this latest instalment however, they’re off in their own spin-off, Hobbs And Shaw, which is due to hit UK cinemas on August 1.

Do not fear if you’ve enjoyed the inclusion of giant wrestlers somehow clambering inside streamlined sport cars, John Cena is officially on-board.

Fans will be able to see him – for a change – when the film drops on May 22, 2020.

Returning as director is Justin Lin, the man previously trusted with 2009’s Fast & Furious, 2011’s Fast Five and 2013’s Fast & Furious 6. While Daniel Casey has jumped in for a spin as script writer, taking over from Chris Morgan, who has penned Hobbs And Shaw.

Fans will need to brace themselves as the Fast And Furious franchise prepares to park up for good. Fast 9 will be followed by one more film, with Fast 10 slated for an April 2020 release, bringing the curtain down on 20 years of fossil fuelled carnage.

Hobbs And Shaw is due for release in the UK on August 1, 2019, while Fast And Furious 9 is due to drive in to cinemas in May 2020.
