By order of the Peaky Blinders, the BBC has revealed a first look at the whole gang as fans patiently wait for the upcoming fourth season.

Game of Thrones season seven is over and we all need a bit of a reality check – and a new dose of epic tele-visual entertainment to keep us occupied through the winter months.

Enter: The Peaky Blinders and their gritty brand of Birmingham gang violence, and a sneak peak at the cast members.

At the end of season three, the blinders – Polly, Arthur, John and Michael – were in a spot of bother, having been thrown in the clink by the police, dobbed in by none other than Cillian Murphy’s Tommy.

The teaser confirms season four will rejoin Tommy receiving a mysterious letter on Christmas Eve which tells him the Peaky Blinders are in ‘danger of annihilation’.

It adds:

As the enemy closes in, Shelby flees his country house and returns to the streets of Small Heath, Birmingham where a fight for survival begins…

When asked about the upcoming episodes, Murphy told Today FM:

In the classic gangster arc, the last season was sort of all about the wealth, the house and all that material stuff.

This season is sort of a return to the roots. That’s about as much as I can reveal.

Regarding the cliffhanger and Tommy’s quest for revenge, writer Steve Knight was also cryptic in an interview with Metro.

He said:

Tommy’s redemption might take a little bit longer. It’s the family being forced back together.

Tom Hardy’s Alfie Solomon is back so you can look forward to more tense moments like this:

Series four sees a return for the major cast members with newcomers including Aidan Gillen, Jack Rowan, Charlie Murphy and Adrien Brody.

Until then, there’s a Peaky Blinders-inspired bar where you can await and drown your sorrows.

Peaky Blinders returns to BBC2 later this autumn.
