If Hollywood stars and fast cars tickle your fancy then you’re probably going to like Christian Bale and Matt Damon’s new movie, Ford v. Ferrari.

While we’d love to sit and chat about who would win in a race between Batman and erm, Jason Bourne (not really a fair fight, to be honest), Bale and Damon are actually on the same side this time, as they come together in a bid to design a car that will outspeed their competition.

The trailer for the adrenaline-fueled film dropped during Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Sunday and it shows British driver Ken Miles (Christian Bale) recruited by top designer Carroll Shelby (Matt Damon) to work for Henry Ford II.

Set in the sixties, Ford v. Ferrari should not be confused with Michael Mann’s long-time coming Ferrari, which was also due to star Christian Bale.

The film also stars Jon Bernthal, Caitriona Balfe, Tracy Letts Josh Lucas, Noah Jupe, Remo Girone and Ray McKinnon. It is directed by James Mangold, and produced by him, Peter Chernin, Lucas Foster, Jenno Topping and Alex Young. The screenplay was written by Mangold, Jez Butterworth, John-Henry Butterworth and Jason Keller.

Ford v. Ferrari follows the story of a team of American engineers and designers who are tasked with building the Ford GT40 from scratch and creating an entirely new vehicle in a bid to defeat the perennially dominant Ferrari at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans race in France.

The film is scheduled to be released on November 15, 2019, in the UK and the US by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures under the 20th Century Fox banner.

It was originally set to star Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt with original screenplay by Jason Keller, however the project fell apart after a script was drafted by Jez and John-Henry Butterworth.

However, in February last year James Mangold was brought on board to direct the film based on the previous script, Uproxx reports.

Later, it was confirmed composter Marco Beltrami would be scoring the film, having previously worked on 3:10 to Yuma, The Wolverine and Logan.

With a budget of $100 million, it’s fair to say we’re expecting big things from Ford v. Ferrari.
