Frankie Muniz has spoken out about how he spent summer 2017: binge-watching old Malcolm in the Middle episodes.
This isn’t just because it’s a brilliant show which is as funny as it is nostalgic – and, of course, with a great pre-Heisenberg appearance from Bryan Cranston.
The 31-year-old former child star has suffered nine concussions, as well as numerous ‘mini-strokes’ and these experiences have seriously affected his memory.
As a result, he sadly cannot recall much about the time he spent filming the beloved family sitcom, which is remembered so fondly by viewers.
Frankie openly discussed his health concerns in a recent episode of ABC‘s, Dancing with the Stars.
He spoke candidly about his difficulties with remembering his time on the Star City set:
It makes me a little sad. Things pop back into my mind I should have remembered…
Truth is, I don’t remember much [of Malcolm In The Middle], it almost feels like it wasn’t me.

Now Frankie has revealed how he is binge watching Malcolm in the Middle in a determined attempt to jog his memory.
Speaking with TMZ, Frankie explained why he has only just begun to open up about his memory problems:
It’s not something I’ve ever really talked about you know, because it’s just me, it’s my life, it just feels normal to me.
But yeah I don’t have the greatest memory. But I don’t know? I’m happy and having fun.
He also spoke about which parts of Malcolm in the Middle he can remember:
I remember certain moments. But they are usually brought back by like watching or seeing pictures and stuff.
When asked if he still watched the show, his immediate reaction was ‘of course!’ before chatting about his recent (relatable) binge:
I binged it this summer, because I’d never seen it, like I’d never really seen all the episodes. And I don’t know, it was fun so.
I don’t see it as me, right, because I don’t necessarily remember filming it. So I actually got to watch it as a fan and enjoy the show, because the shows really funny.
I’m happy I was a part of it.
Frankie also used the interview to dispel any suggestions of drug use being attributed to his memory loss:
I’m 31-years-old, I’ve never had a sip of alcohol, I’ve never done any drug ever, I’ve a zero tattoo on my arm for like zero drugs and alcohol, so can’t be that!
I wish I had an excuse but I don’t.
Of course, you never need a reason to re-watch all of Malcolm in the Middle.
It’s good to know Malcolm – I mean Frankie, is now a fan of the show and is proud to have been a part of it.
With the support he has so far received, from both fans and his Malcolm in the Middle family, hopefully Frankie will continue to be a strong and happy person despite the significant difficulties he’s faced.
Surely I’m not the only one who would really love to see the likeable, down-to-earth Frankie starring in a new sitcom?
