Frasier legend John Mahoney has sadly passed away in Chicago aged 77.
His publicist told TMZ he passed away on Sunday in hospice care.
The British-born actor’s most famous and beloved role was as Martin Crane, the father of Kelsey Grammer and David Hyde Pierce’s characters on Frasier.
The show ran for 11 hugely successful seasons.
He won a Screen Actors Guild Award in 200 for Frasier and was nominated for two Emmys and two Golden Globes.
Outside of Frasier, Mahoney was also extremely active in theatre and won a Tony Award in 1986.
His most recent role was in Hot In Cleveland and other credits include American President, Say Anything… and Eight Men Out.
His career in showbiz was vast and lasted for more than 30 years.
He was 77 years old when he passed away.
