HBOYou would have thought it would be The Red Wedding, or Viserys having his head melted with liquid gold, but in fact it was one kill from Arya’s list that was the most expensive.
Game of Thrones creators have now revealed that it was Arya’s murder of Sir Meryn Trant, played by Ian Beattie, which cost the big bucks.
In the gruesome scene, Arya completes one of the first kills on her ever-growing list by posing as another girl who Meryn was whipping, before leaping up and stabbing his eyes out.
At the 2017 SXSW Festival in Texas, the show’s producers D.B. Weiss and David Benioff were asked why that scene was so expensive.
In response, Benioff simply said:
She couldn’t really poke out his eyes.
Meryn earned his place on Arya’s list by killing her beloved sword instructor Syrio Forel.
I imagine all the prosthetics needed to carry out that bloody scene added up.
