ITVGame of Thrones fans are desperately waiting for the new season of their favourite show to come back and we already know it’s going to be a while.
The only concrete timings we have for the eighth and final outing into Westeros is some time in 2019.
We keep hearing of different reasons why production is going to take longer than normal, like special effects and correct weather – the crew even have the obstacle of only having one filming unit now most characters are in the same place, meaning the production can’t run simultaneously.
HBOBut it seems we’ll actually be waiting for another reason, which has absolutely nothing to do with the production logistics of the biggest show on the planet – and it revolves around the wedding of Kit Harington and Rose Leslie.
Back in September, we learned Game of Thrones co-stars Kit Harington and Rose Leslie had become engaged.
Well it turns out, (and it’s completely fair enough), Kit wants to make sure he has enough free time to enjoy his wedding before heading into production – he made the revelation on The Jonathan Ross Show, saying HBO will stop production so he can wed Rose.
PAKit said:
I rang [the producer] up and I said, ‘I’m getting married and it’s your fault actually.’ I think for the final season he is so stressed that he’s reached that peaceful level.
I was like, ‘You need to factor in a Game of Thrones wedding by the way.’ [The cast and crew] have all got to be there so the whole thing has got to shut down.’
It must be a wonderful feeling to be part of a show which has contributed to your real-life happiness so much – I’d imagine a large number of the cast and crew will probably be present during the wedding.

When asked whether there was a chance of dressing up as their characters for the wedding, Kit said it was a definite no.
Speaking of the proposal to Jonathan Ross, Kit said:
I was going to string up some lights in some trees and do all the romantic stuff, but we were in the country and we were under this beautiful night sky and had a log fire burning and red wine and I blew my load early – sorry, that’s a really bad expression.
I was meant to do it the day after with the lights. What I meant to say was, I popped my question a bit early. Not blew my load.
HBOThe couple were also in the headlines recently for the OTT April Fool’s Day prank Kit played on Rose.
In the footage, a poor Rose is left utterly terrified when she opens up the fridge to discover what Kit had hidden among the groceries.

What Kit had done to cause such a reaction was to leave a ‘severed head’ for his unsuspecting partner to find.
He said:
It turns out, now you’ve seen that, that she’s not a big [fan], like my family does April Fool’s, her family doesn’t do April Fool’s.
After that she was in tears. It didn’t go down well. She pretty much told me if I did it ever again that would be it – and I think that’s marriage included.
HBOWell, maybe if he pranks her again we won’t have to wait so long for the next season of Game of Thrones, so every cloud and all that!
