HBOCast your minds back to the latest episode of Game of Thrones for a second (it shouldn’t be hard, it’s only been 48 hours since its release).
As you’re all probably aware, it’s pretty much common knowledge that Jon Snow was about as useful as a chocolate fireguard for the entirety of the episode.
While he was pissing about flying around on a dragon all night, his people fought a brave fight; a 13-year-old died in the most badass way, while Arya killed… well, spoiler alert from here on out.
As useless as we thought he might have been though (and boy did we), it turns out he could have actually played a slightly larger part in the slaying of the Night King than previously imagined. Only slightly though – Arya is still the boss queen.
While Arya killed the Night King and set off a chain reaction that wiped out his whole army, viewers were amused to see Jon seemingly screaming at the Ice Dragon – as though that was going to do anything.
Oh sure Jon, you just go right ahead and shout at the deadly fire-breathing creature as though that’s going to do anything at all. Eye-roll.
In fact, if it wasn’t for Arya stabbing the Night King moments later, causing the Ice Dragon to perish in a very dramatic fashion, it’s more than likely Jon would have met his untimely end.
HBOHowever, one viewer decided to rewatch the scene to try and understand what was possibly going through Jon’s head at that moment in time and has uncovered something that changes everything. Because Jon was actually screaming, ‘go, go, gooo’.
Now, it’s unlikely he was screaming that at the dragon; instead, it can be assumed he was actually shouting at Arya and encouraging her to fulfill her badass assassin mission.
As per u/Applesoapp on Reddit:
Jon screamed at the undead dragon to distract it so Arya can run past and kill the Night King. The undead dragon was protecting the entrance to the Godswood.
Watch it again, you can actually hear him scream ‘GOOOOO – GO – GO.’ 10 seconds later the scene you can see the hair of a White Walker flying up when Arya sprints past the group of White Walkers.
Jon once again was ready to sacrifice himself to kill the Night King.

Basically, Jon was sacrificing himself to allow Arya to become hero of the hour/year/century. Which makes my heart melt just a little bit.
Don’t get me wrong: Jon in no way takes over from Arya in the coolness stakes – she is still the ultimate badass bitch in my eyes – but it’s just nice knowing she wasn’t on her own in her mission.
