There’s a lot of mystery surrounding the latest episode of Game of Thrones: Is Arya going to die? Is Margaery going to take down the High Sparrow? What did Sansa’s letter say? And where the fuck is Gendry?

Unfortunately, it’s unlikely the last one will ever be answered. But thanks to the magic of obsessed Game of Thrones fans, the mystery of Sansa’s letter is.

In this season’s seventh episode, Sansa and Jon try to recruit Northern houses to help them take back Winterfell – and do so rather unsuccessfully.

Jon and Sansa argue over whether they should go into battle anyway, with Jon rejecting Sansa’s insistence that they need more men.

Sansa, obviously upset with her older brother’s (or not if you believe R+L=J) decision, writes a letter – but it’s unclear exactly what it says and who it’s addressed to.

While some words are obvious – ‘Winterfell’ and ‘Sansa Stark’ – most of it can’t be made out.

But thanks to one eagle-eyed fan, it now can be. Using this shot, Reddit user CreepyPancakes flipped the image and zoomed in.

By tracing over the visible words and making some educated guesses, this is what they got:

If CreepyPancakes is right, most of the letter reads: “…you promised to protect me… Now you have a chance to fulfill your promise… Knights of the Vale are under your command. Ride north for Winterfell. Lend us your aid and I shall see to it that you are… rewarded.”

While some have speculated the letter is for Robin Arryn or Yohn Royce, the most likely candidate seems to be Littlefinger.

In episode 5 of season six, Littlefinger was the one who approached her to offer to help of the Knights of the Vale, and it seems as though she may be calling in that favour.

Let’s hope this theory is wrong, though. If Game of Thrones has taught us one thing, it’s that Littlefinger can’t be trusted.
