The White Walkers are stepping towards centre stage in the latest episodes of Game of Thrones, with the battle for the throne beginning to take a back seat.

Winter is here, and destroying The Night King and his band of not-so-merry men is the most important thing in the Westeros right now.

The Night King’s recent reappearance to the fray have been through Bran’s warging abilities, so that begs the question – what is their link?

Well, some fans think they have the answer.

One theory reckons that The Night King IS Bran Stark!

Okay let’s go through this step by step.

According to the theory, The Artist Formerly Known As Bran has warged himself back in time to try and prevent The Children Of The Forest from fucking up and creating the White Walkers.

To do that, he would have warged into the body of the bloke who they then turned into The Night King to communicate with them.

But if a guy you were about to turn into The Walking Undead was trying to convince you not to, you wouldn’t listen to anything he had to say, would you?

So Bran would be in the body of the man who becomes The Night King, as he transitions.

All this would be fine, if Bran could then leave the poor sod’s body and return to his own body in the present.

But, Brynden and Jojen had both previously warned him that staying in the past for too long would make it impossible to return, so things aren’t as simple as they seem.

It’s pretty undeniable that there’s some connection between Bran and The Night King.

He even touches him while Bran assumes he can’t be touched. Some scary shit is going down between these two.

Bran even confronts the Children Of The Forest after he realises they made the White Walkers, but Leaf isn’t having any of it.

The conversation went like this:

Leaf: We were at war. We were being slaughtered. Our sacred trees cut down. We needed to defend ourselves.

Bran: From who?

Leaf: From you.

That conversation seems like a nod to the whole of humanity, but what if Leaf is actually talking about Bran himself?

If this theory is true, it’s going to bring about some serious drama. It will add extra complications to the inevitable killing of The Night King by Jon Snow.

What if, by killing The Night King, Jon kills Bran too?

Imagine the feels.
