HBOWe’re in the Endgame now, folks!
Sorry, wrong franchise. Though on second thoughts, it’s still applicable I reckon. Much like our faithful Avengers, our Westerosi heroes are also on the verge of facing their most fearsome foe yet. And whether it’s with Infinity Stones, dragonglass or dragons themselves, if the good guys lose it’s basically the end of the world.
As we’ve seen in the first two episodes of the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones, most of the characters are preparing themselves for the oncoming clash one way or another, by hiding down in the crypts, using themselves as bait, or drinking all night before facing the inevitable.
While some of the show’s characters are more outspoken with their affections – here’s looking at you, Tormund – the relationship between Grey Worm and Missandei has been more of a slow burner, revealing themselves as more of a ‘when all this is over’ type couple, rather than the ‘now or never’ attitude of others.
HBOThere was a touching moment between the two in the latest episode, which made the audience root for them more than ever.
Because of this, however, some fans are pretty certain that at least one of them won’t make it through the battle. This is GoT after all – why would such a loving couple get the happy ending they deserve?!
Game of Thrones loves a bit of ominous foreboding, so having two people who are clearly in love talk about what they want they do after the battle of Winterfell is perfect fodder for fan theories.

The heartwarming moment came when Grey Worm asked Missandei what she would like to do after the battle, to which she replies: ‘I would like to see the beaches of Naath again.’
Grey Worm then promises to take her there, and to become the protector of the land and its people – basically saying they will live happily ever after (fingers crossed).

Grey Worm is a fighter though, and will be therefore be heavily involved in the battle. As most characters prepare for death, you’d be forgiven for thinking Grey Worm’s chances aren’t great.
HBOSome fans however, are thinking it could be the other way round though, suggesting Grey Worm will survive (he’s made it through many battles before, of course) and actually it’ll be Missandei to meet her doom.

Being the hopeless romantic and man of his word that he is, Grey Worm will still honour his beloved, with fans thinking he’ll still take Missandei’s body back to Naarth, and become the protector of the ‘peaceful people who can’t protect themselves’ while he’s there.
It’s definitely not the most far-fetched theory I’ve heard, though I reckon Missandei will know how to handle herself in the battle. They’ll be on that beach in no time!
