Warning Game of Thrones Season Seven Spoilers

Game of thrones season finale 2HBO

Game of Thrones Season Seven may not be on the telly yet but it’s begun pre-production and it seems we can expect a whole raft of new characters to make up for the ones Cersei incinerated last season.

It’s an exciting time to be a fan of the Game of Thrones show, especially as we’re so off book now that they may as well be different series and we have no idea what’s going to happen.

For those keen to try and work out what’s coming  though, the valiant folks over at the Watchers on the Wall have kept a lookout for any and all spoilers and their sources have made good, revealing a bunch of season 7 casting breakdowns to whet our appetite for the new season.

Here’s the full list of roles on the casting sheet, so one final warning on spoilers!

General: The showrunners are looking for a white actor with an ‘Received Pronunciation’ accent (Basically how Tywin Lannister spoke) aged between 40 – 55 to play a senior military officer. The actor is needed for the week of September 6th.

Priest: It seems that not all the Sparrow’s may have died in the Cersei’s disco inferno and the show needs a white actor in their sixties to play a venerable priest with ‘moral authority and gravitas.’ Again the actor must be able to use an RP accent, and have a ‘characterful face’ for this part. He’s scheduled to shoot one week, from September 22nd.

Warrior: Game of Thrones is no stranger to bruiser characters but top play this warrior you’ll need to be between 35 – 45 age range and have the ‘attack skills of a pit bull’, also you have to be to be ‘great at fighting’.

This isn’t a Hercules in New York style job though, and the character has a ‘considerable’ amount of dialogue as well so you’ll need significant acting chops on top of your action skills. Once again they want a white man (So he’s not Dothraki) with a middle class accent and the roles being described as an ‘excellent part for a top-end actor’.

Gate Guard: The show needs a 20-year-old ‘confident, characterful, straight-talking Northern lad with a great face to play across a very excellent series of scenes’. He’s also got to have ‘wit, timing, and charisma’ and is currently scheduled to film between mid-October and mid-November.

City Guard: The show is looking for someone with an RP accent to play a city guard in his mid-thirties who apprehends a suspicious-looking person while on nightly patrol. He’s set to shoot for a week in mid-October.

Merchant: The merchant will appear in a scene at an inn during a busy evening and it’s a non-combatant role. They are  no restrictions on ethnicity/race either leading people to speculate that the character will appear somewhere in Essos.

Lovely Lady: What would Thrones be without its gratuitous nudity and it seems the upcoming season isn’t going to shy away from its raunchy reputation. They’re looking for an attractive young girl to play a courtesan and although it’s a ‘speaking part’ it does require full nudity.

Just like the merchant, there are no restrictions on the ‘lovely lady’s’  ethnicity/race suggesting this role is for somewhere on Essos.

Young Lord: The show needs a mid-twenties man to play a tall, handsome young lord who uses the RP accent. He’s scheduled to shoot in the week commencing September 20th.

Lieutenant: Another character that needs to be in his twenties, he’s described as an athletic, physically fit, and disciplined warrior. Appearance-wise, they’re looking for someone not white, with Middle Eastern descent mentioned meaning he’ll most likely be one of Dany’s Dothraki.

All the characters using an RP Accent does suggest that they’ll be playing characters in King’s Landing where the majority of the upper class use the accent, but it could be Casterly Rock as well as the Lannisters do have a fancy accent.

Whatever way Season Seven goes we can’t wait for it to begin, that’s for sure…
