Finally, the Game of Thrones season eight premiere date has been revealed!

Like we needed an excuse to tune in for HBO’s True Detective, but if you were watching, you’d have been lucky enough to discover what the exact date for us all to return to Westeros – April 14, 2019.

We’ve known for a while season eight would premiere in April, and sticking with the regular time slot of Sunday nights we had a one of four chance of guessing; the 7th, 14th, 21st, or 28th.

Check out the new official trailer below:

After almost two years of waiting, we’ve just got to get through the rest of January, all of February and March, and then just two more weeks.

I’m not really fussed about the date to be honest. After waiting for so long already, whatever date they’d have said, it wouldn’t have made a huge difference to me. Whether it had been the first of the month, or the 30th, what’s a few extra weeks?

While the teaser trailer HBO originally dropped didn’t include any new footage, it was still enough to whet our appetites.

We’re aware season eight will consist of just six episodes, but – and it’s a big but – each episode will have an extended run time beyond 60 minutes, which is just perfect!

I mean, it’s great we get more than the average episode, but there are A LOT of loose ends to tie up, so HBO and George R.R. Martin better not ruin it all with underwhelming action, or a cliff hanger-style ending.

I’m sure they won’t – not with the biggest battle in TV history on the horizon – but the mind does wonder when it comes to something so important!

While fans can’t get enough of the show, it seems GOT stars, or rather one in particular, feels the complete opposite.

Everyone’s favourite resurrected bastard, Jon Snow, or rather the actor who plays him, Kit Harington, has revealed he’s had enough of Game of Thrones.

I beg your pardon, Kit? I suggest you go and wash your mouth out!

Ok, so not had enough per se, but he revealed ‘the last season of Thrones seemed to be designed to break us’.

Speaking to GQ, he continued:

Everyone was broken at the end. I don’t know if we were crying because we were sad it was ending or if we were crying because it was so fucking tiring.

We were sleep deprived. It was like it was designed to make you think, Right, I’m f*cking sick of this.

I remember everyone walking around towards the end going, ‘I’ve had enough now. I love this, it’s been the best thing in my life, I’ll miss it one day – but I’m done.’

I get you were tired Kit, I used to act, I know how much hard work goes into these things, let alone the long hours.

Ok, so you’re working on something a little bigger than my secondary school production of Cabaret, but you had one thing I didn’t – a $500,000 fee for each episode.

I may be going off track slightly, but anyway, the end is in sight, and come April 14, our final watch begins.

Can’t bloody wait!
